Dr. Joseph G. Lopez received his Ph.D. from the University of North Texas and has been in education for more than thirty years. After receiving his doctorate, he attended the University of Dallas and the Dallas Institute of Humanities.
Dr. Lopez has served in a variety of leadership positions ranging from high school biology teacher, dean of instruction, elementary and secondary school principal, school superintendent, adjunct professor at Texas A&M and New Mexico Highland University, and as an educational consultant. He has worked with the El Paso Independent School District, Garland Independent School District, San Felipe Del Rio School District, Rockford Public Schools in Illinois, Corpus Christi Independent School District and the Dallas Independent School District.
Dr. Lopez’s leadership skills and beliefs, such as nurturing leadership among staff at all levels, resulted in schools and districts receiving State recognition for student performance. Dr. Lopez has been the recipient of the “Administrator of the Year” for the Southwest Basin Region by the State Association for the Gifted and Talented Association; “Dallas ISD “Administrator of the Year”; “Appreciation for Outstanding Service in the McGuaghey Area”; “Distinguished Service and Support for the Boys’ Scouts of America”; “Special Achievement by the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce”; and “Special Honor and Recognition” by the United States Air Force at Laughlin Air Force Base. Dr. Lopez was also featured in June 2013 national publication and issue of District Administration “Administrator Profile” for his work with the Texas Literacy Initiative in El Paso.
